Flight Path
I flew on Porter Airlines to get from Boston Logan Airport to Vancouver International Airport and back. These flights were how I ended up in Vancouver for my Alaska cruise! On my journey, I experienced a layover in Ottawa on the way to Vancouver and another one in Toronto on my return trip. Each layover allowed me an opportunity to stretch my legs. Although one layover had a customs mishap that almost caused me to miss my connecting flight.
ABout Porter
Porter is a relatively new airline, having been founded in 1999 and launching its service in 2006. Over the years, it has carved out a niche for itself in the market by focusing on the traveler experience. The flights offered complimentary Wi-Fi, which allowed me to stay connected during the trip, along with snacks and beverages – including a selection of local beers and wines, which was a delightful addition to the flight.
Perks
One of the standout features of Porter Airlines is their cabin layout, which has no middle seats. This design ensures that every passenger has the option of sitting in an aisle or a window seat. This arrangement not only enhances comfort but makes boarding and deplaning much easier and more efficient.
On one of my flights, I was upgraded to the front row, and I was very pleased with the seat and the extra legroom it provided. Traveling in an upgraded seat truly made a difference, allowing for a more relaxed experience. This upgrade also came with the perk of a complimentary meal, which exceeded my expectations for airplane food. It was quite good, served fresh, and certainly a cut above the usual fare typically offered in the economy class of many airlines.
Customs Mishap
During one layover, customs delayed us significantly because our checked bag didn’t make it to customs before we did, causing a ripple effect of anxiety as we rushed through the airport. While we anxiously scanned the terminal for any sign of our luggage, Porter, our diligent airline, worked tirelessly on our behalf. They ensured that the next leg of our flight was held until we were able to make it on the plane, alleviating some of our stress. Finally, we were able to take a deep breath as we settled in for the next stage of our journey.
Overall
Overall, my experience with Porter Airlines was positive, from the comfortable seating arrangements to the attentive service. I appreciated their dedication to providing a pleasant travel experience, making my journey much more enjoyable. I will fly with Porter again anytime I’m in, or traveling through, Canada.
